It has been slow. I fished a few new spots over the weekend and got skunked for my exploratory efforts. Did get one big bow in Meredith though. The brook trout ponds are another option now, did well at one evening of opening day. Hope the bass have been biting.

Hey Travis, Could you please remove your post on my north country thread? I haven't been to that spot in weeks but it would be great if you could remove that post. If you send me a PM i will explain why.

    Hey Travis,

I hope those flies work out for you. Fish them on a long enough leader so they can sink down a bit and give them some good action with jerky fast retrieves. They should work well in the Merrymeeting and Winnipesaukee rivers as well as at the mouths of all brooks. The fishing is still damn slow and you did well to get that big boy on opening day. If you see fish surfacing try a small soft hackle or nymph and fish it just below the surface. Other good patterns include eggs for the rainbows when they are following the suckers and small smelt patterns for the yoy smelt. There is a great pattern called a herron fly that is hard to find...but can be tied. Good luck with the bass this weekend and don't be afraid to do some real fishing when you get bored.
