Great Fly!!! The proportions are perfect. Do you wrap the wing before tying down?

i did not make any wraps of thread around the butt ends of the hair wing on this fly.

i only make the wraps around the butt ends if i'm tying 2 or more layers to make the wing (e.g. mickey finn)

I think he means taking a wrap around the butt end of the hair wing prior to lashing it to the hook.

Did you mean to say that you did not make any wraps after the wing was secured to the hook ? Some peple, for instance, will use a wrap to help position the wing or prop it up. Others do this before securing it.

Simply repeating your original statement does not make it any clearer.

i clipped the butt ends of the hair, positioned it on the hook shank and tied the wing down with thread. cant be any simpler than that!
