Conehead Muddler looks good. Most flyshops carry hooks down to #24 or so. If you want something smaller, you may have to use the internet. For the real small stuff, I like the Gamakatsu C12-BM. They are barbless, have a large eye, wide gape, and short shank. Only sizes are #26, #28, #30. Awesome hooks. I get them from Bearsden.

The muddler does look good. The only thing I would add is either some red deer hair, yarn, or feather to the tail.

Small nymphs like thread midges, zebra midges, scuds, and sow bugs, size 16 and smaller will be good choices. Also SanJuanWorms (brown or pink) sometimes get attention. Tight lines.

That mudler looks good. I would add a but of flash to it.

Most fly shops have small hooks. I don't tie lower than 24.

At North Country Angler we carry hooks down to size 32. I've tied some small midges on them, but very time I try to get fish on them the fish start eating something bigger...I don't blame them.

Nate, have you tried the Gamakatsu hooks? The #30 is about equivalent to a Tiemco #32. Love the wide gape and large eye. A lot of our fall and winter fishing down here is to tiny BWO's and midges smaller than #28.

Default What and where ...

Magic, you want the skinny on where and what. Check out the post on MFFA meeting Nov 8th. Sounds like it'd be right up your alley.
