Default Bluefish Blues

Last Sunday a friend reported that he had outstanding Bluefish action in the Merrimack River and just outside. Well based on that down we go on Tuesday. Flies and trolling some lures ,zero/nada. Covered everywhere all the way to the end of Plum Island. Saw one boat catch one fish. Oh boy! Not that this was not enough, thinking that they have got to come thru back we go on Friday . Yup you guessed it - nothing. Did not even see one caught by all the boats that were out. I know this is migration time and today could be barren and tomorrow could be a thousand around but disappointing nevertheless.

I don't know a lot about bluefish, but I believe they are one of the myriad of saltwater fish who are struggling compared to past numbers. I've heard many, many reports of bluefish catches being minimal to nonexistent.
