Here are two streamers that may be of interest. They were developed by Vic Pomiecko, a high school shop teacher in Claremont and Nelson Bryant who before he wrote the Outdoors colunm for the NY Times was editor of the Claremont Eagle. They fishes small ponds - Cole Pond, Chapin Pond - as well as the Sugar River.
There is Vic's Gray Special and Vic's Brown Special. Both are tied on #10 or #12 streamer hooks.
Vic's Gray Special:
tail: golden pheasant tippets
butt: peacock herl
body: red fluorescent floss
wing: gray squirrel tail hair, tips extending just beyond the bend of the hook
Vic's Brown Special
tail: golden pheasant tippets
butt: peacock herl
body: orange fluorescent floss
wing: fox squirrel tail hair, tips extending just beyond the bend of the hook

They should be retrieved in short jerks causing the squirrel tail hair to pulse in the water.

There is a chapter on New Hampshire patterns, including some of Ora Smith's, in "Tandem Streamers," by Donald A. Wilson.

Thank you again for the information! I ordered the book and looked at the recommended sites. I will try to tie all the flies that I have materials for as soon as I can and post my results.
