Default Changing Rigs to Fish Midges (Dry)

I've been fly fishing for several years but this year I've run into a new situation twice this year, whether it's because I'm fishing a specific river for the first time or because I finally got the courage (or insanity) to try midges.

So I'm fishing a pocket water section with a nymph rig with 5x tippet (or streamer fishing with a 4x tippet) and I come across a very slow moving pool and notice rises dimpling the surface and determine that they are feeding on midges (size 20-24). What's the most efficient way to change rigs?

Add a section of 6x and 7x tippet to my existing leader?

Carry a spare spool for my reel with floating line and a 7x tippet?

Remove the leader on my line and replace it with a 7x leader?

What do you typically do in this situation? Your input is appreciated.
