Default Upcountry fishing camp

Can anyone recommend a fishing lodge in New Hampshire or Maine for a group of self-described over-the-hill outdoorsmen? None of the half-dozen guys has angling experience, so they're seeking a place that provides not only creature comforts but guides or access to them. Their goal is simply to experience a new outdoor activity, and they don't care what they fish for or how. If anyone can suggest a destination for this gang, I'll pass it along. Thanks. -- Dave

For simplicity's sake, I'd recommend one of the historic Maine sporting camps such as Tim Pond Camps, Grants Camps or Tea Pond Camps. There are others.

It is a plain fact, however, that downstream fishing with a non-imitative fly (lure, in the British sense) does not mix comfortably with upstream imitative fishing...I'll stay out of the argument about whether this technique is really fly fishing. In terms of interest, it is for me ahead of most downstream fishing and spinning. And I've already opined that spinning is better than staying at home with the television set.

Tall Timber in Pittsburg fits the description.
