Fished Beards brook in Hillsboro on May 13th. Despite the rain, had a great day. Caught three nice size browns and a hog of a rainbow dead drifting a BH pheasant tail and BH Hares ear. Water temp started out at 48 at 9:00. As the air temp rose the fish became active. A few grey caddis flies came off along with a few sulphurs (size 22, 24).
Fished the "fly fishing" section of the Piscataquog on May 17th. Got on the river about 6:30 pm. Red Quill hatch came off heavily around 7:10. Caught and released a few rainbows by nymphing but nothing on the surface yet. Saw a few caddis flies coming off as well.
