Looking for reviews I guess for some of the more popular striping baskets on the market today. I have seen the hard plastic types, and the mesh retractable types as well. Who has experience with what? can you tell me the pro's and con's and maybe make some recomendations? My line is getting hammered. :x

Solid,

Hello. I've used both the mesh type and the plastic-tub type of stripping basket. My vote is for the plastic tub type. You could easily make one with supplies purchased at Target / Walmart / the local hardware shop / etc. And, if you're not the make-your-own type, LLBean sells a really nice one for $20.00. I have an old one that I made and an LLBean tub-type basket. The LLBean basket is great.

I've had a mesh-type. Here's what I found. It simply wasn't deep enough. And, by "deep enough" I don't mean vertically deep enough, but horizontally deep enough. It didn't project from my hip enough. This was a problem. Stripping line required making little tiny strips into a rather small target basket. The tub is something into which I just drop line. It's great. Though, I've drilled a few extra drainage holes into it...

Hope this helps.
