I went to plum Island from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM ( the low tide) today on Monday. A fly guy was wading out on the sand spit on the north end. Not as crowded as I would have expected at 8:00 on the 4th holiday. Bait fishermen using clams were catching on average a dozen fish during that time of 12 to 22 inch fish. Artificials were not doing the job although there was some spots with room to cast.
Are there any other shore fishing striper fly guys out there? Would like to hear some reports.
