Late report been trying to catch up ever since.

Fished 7 out of the 10 Days by Boat, the other three from Shore. Not enough Albies to fish for . Seemed like there were 20 Albies cruising the island ! With 50 Boats chasing them. Pretty funny to watch. I did my usual hanging out at some likely spots in my boat and Jig scup and sea bass with a Maria waiting for them. Saw 1 pod in 3 days. No bait anywhere. Burned 4 Tanks of Gas! I can do the whole trip with 1 usually. I am not into the run and gun stuff. Had someone miss running me down by 3ft then cast over my boat! Into a obvious school of blues! And then give me the bird.
Derby/Albie fever does strange things to people.

On the plus side all the blues you want though, I will not purposely cast to them at this time of the year.Without wire and a beat up fly. They are fun but after the first 50 it gets old. Fish finder was black with them at times. I already lost a line to one this year. The fish hit the transition in color from the running line to sink tip. Crazy Fish! Caught some Bass around Woodshole with a 35” for the Grill. The nice thing about learning a place is there is always options, but I get my fill of Bass and Blues local. Really want the funy stuff when I am down there.
Worst Fishing I have had over there in the 10yrs , that was the baitshop and general angler consensious. No Bait=No Fish
From all the reports anyone who caught one was extremely lucky! Guy caught a 14.3Lb Albie first day of the Derby from shore. That will be the winner this year I Suspect. I did overhear allot of the boat Derby guys while having my Nightly “Sundowner “ in the Bar talking about great fishing around Nantucket. This is outside of the Derby boundaries, nothing worse than a cheat. I don’t participate in the derby anyway, I have in the past but I have enough of a hard time coming off the water without Derby Fever adding to it. It is suppose to be a family vacation! I still hit the Weigh in every nice.

I will be Back Next Year!
Here are some Pics! No Fish

I see this boat every year, I love wood boats and this one is my favorite. Loads of brite work. Not for fishing , but would make for a sweet base of OPS.
