The proof is in the pudding; The Penobscot and many of the less known watersheds in Maine had fishable return numbers through the 90’s, now they are happy about 15 fish in the Sandy River.

It’s not the dams, and the water quality is better than it has been in 200 years. This isn’t rocket science; we need to view the issue from a new perspective or perspectives. There can be only so many limiting factors, we need to break it down and understand the larger picture.

Most people tend to focus on the visible aspects of a problem, and overlook the greater picture.
I owned a security analysis firm prior to founding my rodbuilding company and we would always be called in to troubleshoot an "issue". We shocked so many organizations by saying: "Wait a minute, we can't troubleshoot your issue until we have a complete picture of your network and how the data flows through it."
Bandaids are utilized far too often when major surgery is required!
When it comes to the environment and the well being of our fish and streams let's look beyond the bandaids.

I'm with you.
I was listening to this show last night before a meeting and they developed a transmitter that weighed 100/oz and super glued it to the under abdomen of dragon flies to track their transcontinental migrations with a small plane. Hint Hint. That is pretty cool, and we should be using that with par, smolts and returning fish both of AS and Salters, only without the plane.
That dam modern technology stuff just keeps getting in the way of our clouded speculation.

Screw it,I'm embracing global warming and going bass fishing from this point forward.Trout and Salmon are just a pain in the --- to catch anyway with all that match the hatch BS. Its Wal-Mart poppers, Bud on ice and that A-hole Charlie More on the tube for me. How's that for big picture thinking?

Ah, not good thinking. Stick with trout. Clears your head and is good for the soul.
