Relatively stable weather and a favorable tide was all it took to get me back down to the mouth of the Hampton River tonight. I rushed home from work eager to catch the last of the outgoing before dark. Finally, after what's seemed like an eternity of stormy, fishless days, I got some fast action on the fly rod. Granted, all of the fish were small, about a foot or so, but still was nice to feel that jolt as they struck my peanut bunker imitation stripped quickly on a 350-grain sink-tip. About twenty fish in an hour or so, and many missed strikes. I'll be back again looking for bigger fish, I'm sure they're still around.
