the company was great. Eric F (Solid) cruised down from Manchester at 0'dark thirty for a 5 a.m. departure. He rolled in few minutes before 5, raining hard and the breeze was just freshening. It had been blowing 8-10 knots but was working its way up toward 15 as the light came up. We started in the lee behind Woodbridge Island, well as much lee as can be afforded by an island that consists of little more than spartina and duck blinds. No joy there so we set wind driven drifts across the flats. Took a couple here and there but no great shakes. Fish were few and far between all morning.Once the tide got rocking things stood up pretty tall given the tide was running hard dead against the wind. Some serious chuck and duck fly casting was going on.

We moved up river to get out of the wind for a while. Picked up a couple dinks up although I marked fish stacked like cordwood in a couple typical spring holding water locations. After a bit of this I had to move back to the flats after the week I'd had there. We fished the Salibury side and picked up a couple more twinks. Oh well into the breech.

We moved over into the teeth of the wind on the S side of the River. After a while I pulled out the spinning rod and pictched a 9" sluggo. This rolled a couple very nice fish but we couldn't muster anything better than a brace at 24" on the fly.

Eric toughed it out through all the wind and rain. Great fishing partner. In the end I bet we ended up with 12 or 14 fish bewteen us. I owe you a better day on the water big guy!

In reality after about a half an hour it was pretty comical out there. We were pretty well dressed for it, completely safe but the wind made it tough. We kept at it until about 11:30 then came in , dried off and headed for Browns.

Sat down for some chow about 12:45 but couldn't figure out if any of the diners were FFin NH fisherman. I spoke to a couple guys that just came in off the marsh but they didn't let on they were with this gang. Oh well details. We'll come up with a better meeting plan next time![/img]

Nice Report!

Normally with this weather I would have banked the fishing time from this weekend by working on the honey do list.

Something to be said about ignoring the common human desire to stay dry and warm to catch fish you plan on releasing anyway

Great Day

Mike
