Ha! Leave it to a spammer to blow the dust off this great old post. I didn't know the Lambrous well, but made their aquaintance a few time, mostly to buy beadhead heron flies. I started tying flies so I could tie my own. I was trying to quit smoking and everytime I saw Tony I relapsed. Thanks again lowwall and spammer

Ps. Santa indulged me with a copy of "forgotten flies" last year. Everytime I open it I am awestruck and the woodsuck heron made the cut. Nick showed me that at his house. I think he was pretty proud of that.

It is a plain fact, however, that downstream fishing with a non-imitative fly (lure, in the British sense) does not mix comfortably with upstream imitative fishing...I'll stay out of the argument about whether this technique is really fly fishing. In terms of interest, it is for me ahead of most downstream fishing and spinning. And I've already opined that spinning is better than staying at home with the television set.

Ha! I'm even caught a French trout on one during a drake hatch. I credit Siri with the faux pas.
