Here is a smaller copy of the picture in case it's easier for some folks to view.

Anyone have an opinion - was this fish born in this stream or stocked? I'm thinking it was hatched in the stream given the healthy fins but would love to hear from those more familiar with the topic!

No doubt a pretty fish and a very good underwater shot. That said, the easiest way to know is to look at the stocking report for the river it was in.

Wild fish are great. So are stocked fish when they have been able to survive for a season or two. I think we get all too caught up in whether a caught fish is stocked or wild. I think our energy is better spent on taking care of the ones where there isn't any question.
