Found this thread while doing some research on the upcoming McCallen dam vote in Newmarket. A lot of what was said in this thread is turning out to be true. Residences fearful about the change to the river. The town will ask taxpayers to foot a 2 million (almost 3 million after interest) bill for repair.

A comment that comes up a lot is that further upstream still has impediments. One comment in this thread addressed that very clearly.

The town is looking for public comment on the upcoming bond. Many members here, at least back in 2013, felt removal was the better option. If you still feel that way, please send an email to the town administrator and Dam Committee Member Dale Pike dpike<at>newmarketnh.gov and sfournier<at>newmarketnh.gov Replace the <at> with @.
