Default Star Trails

Living on the summit of Mount Washington is truly an incredible experience. Although we primarily concern ourselves with weather we on occasion get to view a clear night sky that is hard to put into words. One of my fellow co-workers put this video together of the star trails from the summit. It is incredible what you can capture with little light pollution. I am thinking this might be something I will need to try on our next fishing trip to northern NH over one of the lakes. Hope you all enjoy.

Nice vid. I'd love to bring my 8" dob up there and do some real star gazing.

Is that light on the horizon to the left of the frame Burlington?

This light on the horizon that is to the left of the tower is Canada. The single light that is moving to the left of the tower along the ridge line is from someone doing the Presi-traverse. In this shot you actually can't see Burlington as it is off screen.

It's amazing how much light it throws, all night. I guessed Burlington because it was closer. Crazy how far you can see with a little elevation gain.

So cool. I'll have to watch again to catch the moving headlamp.

Okay now that is cool, you can actually see the movement of the hiker to bag that peak, which one is it?

nevermind it looks like they just hiked a side trail and turned around, must have been to get a good view of Canada or something...
